It's THE END of the Great Indian Political League

Yes, finally its come to an end, spread over two months covering 28 states, 543 constituencies with few thousand candidates in fray, about 714 million eligible voters and billions of money spent. It would have been a sigh of relief for the election officials and the politicos once the entire process got completed. With the Congress party making a strong comeback with 206 members in the Lok Sabha Dr.Manmohan Singh is all set for a second stint as the prime minister of the country. This astounding victory of the Congress party according to me is largely attributed to very robust and janta friendly governance they delivered in their previous term also the pro incumbency factor played a major role as well. Talking about the major parties and their numbers the BJP with 163, was very much on the expected lines and it was a total disaster for the left, whom I think with sound trashing in their bastions of West Bengal and Kerala, its all but RIP. On to other regional parties the battle of UP was fought closely and both SP and BSP came neck on neck with SP taking a slight edge over its arch rival thus ending Behanji's Delhi dreams. Trinamool Congress was the standout regional force in these elections who had changed the entire future of left parties in the Indian political scenario. Down south in Tamilnadu the sun never set for DMK and AMMA has a mighty big task ahead to get back to power in TN with assembly elections not very far. Now thats enough about parties and their numbers, let me say some thing about us, i meant the voters( don't count me in us). The voter turnout was not quite phenomenal though it did see a marginal increase over the past years with many of the gennxt voters coming and exercising their franchise. I think this change in the attitude of the young and the urban middle class is mainly because of the number of young and educated candidates in fray also the fact that in these tough times of economic slowdown they saw a messiah in Dr.Singh . So with strong numbers and amazing support from collation parties and sans the left the UPA is all set for another fiver and WE THE PEOPLE live in the hope that they would DELIVER.
